Shoes.

I feel like I'm packing my life away as I prepare for my trip to Singapore. Of course, remember that this is no mere trip, but a full 6/7 month stay there. I am packing my entire apartment plus anything from the house that I might possibly want before my parents come back. I have way too much stuff. Do you know what I have sooooo many of, though? (Hint: read title) Shoes.
What do you want me to say? I have no excuse, no defense. Do you ever wonder how shoes pile up so easily?
1.) I live in Florida. I own flip flops. More than 1 pair. Think about it. If flip flops are to be part of your everyday (including winter) wardrobe, you probably have different kinds. At least a brown and black pair, right? Ad maybe an extra older pair you wear to the pool or beach? 3 pairs.
2.) I do "activities." When I exercise, I need running shoes. If I'm going hiking or walking, I use a different pair of sneakers, preferably nicer looking ones. You're looking at two pairs here (at the least).
3.) It gets cold. Don't you scoff, you unbelievers! We have freezing temperatures! Yes sometimes I wear tennis-shoe like shoes in the cold, but I have boots as well. Again, more than one pair for matching purposes. Plus 2 pairs of boots.
4.) I dress up. I go to church, go out with my friends, give presentations in class... I wear nice shoes for these. And yes, you could have simply one black and one brown pair to match with almost anything, but you know that isn't the case. For Easter you by shoes to match your new dress. For prom you buy a new pair of sparkly heels matched just perfectly to that full length gown. In the summer you wear white, but have to switch the shoe colors up in the fall... I'll be conservative here, and say for this category.... 5 pairs.

Let's add them. Even with my conservative calculation, it would be completely normal and acceptable to have 12 pairs of shoes. Add that to the fact that the number of shoes owned often grows exponentially because while you "need" the new pair, the old pair isn't quite ruined enough to through away. You might need them one day. Also, the fact that people tend to remain the same shoes size (at least for a while) doesn't help.I mean, lets face it; its probably not uncommon for women to have at least twice if not three times as many shoes as in my skimpy prediction!

Are you getting my drift here? What I'm saying is that it is very easy for the number of shoes you own to pile up.... as mine have done. And now I don't know what to do with them. I can't take them all with me. I probably shouldn't even pack them all away. Will this be the end of our relationship together? No! I can't even stand the thought! (dropping the melodramatic feel now)
*sigh* It does seem sad to say, but having to make the tough decision of which shoes to take, which to store and which to.... well, T-O-S-S (I don't want them getting nervous!) does sort of make packing all that much harder!
Oh packing, I guess stirring up enough dust to keep me sneezing through July isn't enough for you.... well I'll show you! I WILL pack my shoes!....but maybe tomorrow.
